With Climate Change and Global Warming at the forefront of everyone’s mind, Poole Instrument is acutely aware of the need to cut carbon emissions. To this end Poole Instrument Service Centre provides the calibration, repair and sales of Flue Gas Analysers; hand-held instruments used by heating engineers to check that domestic High Effeciency condensing boilers are not emitting excessive amounts of carbon dioxide (CO2) and that carbon monoxide (CO) emissions are at a safe level.
Almost a half of the UK's carbon dioxide emissions actually come from energy we use every day.
To generate that energy, we burn fossil fuels (coal, oil and gas) that produce greenhouse gases - in particular carbon dioxide (CO2). Cars are a huge problem but the truth is that more CO2 comes from the energy we use at home. The average household creates around 6 tonnes of CO2 a year, and it's that same CO2 that's changing our climate and damaging the environment.
In 2004, total UK CO2 emissions were almost 560 million tonnes. 27% (153 million tonnes) of those emissions came from the energy we use to heat, light and power our homes. (Energy Saving Trust Website)
Using a high efficiency condensing boiler with heating controls could not only save you money but will also significantly cut your home's CO2 emissions as boilers account for around 60 per cent of all domestic CO2 emissions.
By ensuring that your boiler is running efficiently, you will be making your contribution to the reduction in Global Warming. To do this you should ensure that the heating engineer who installs and services your boiler is CORGI registered and that the Flue Gas Analyser they use is within calibration.
If everyone in the UK with gas central heating installed a high efficiency condensing boiler, we would save enough energy to heat 3.7 million homes for an entire year.
By providing calibration and repair of Flue Gas Analysers, Poole Instrument Service Centre is helping you to make the future a cooler place. For More information on Carbon Monoxide click here
